Post election thoughts - and album stuff

Adam found himself very happy and watching all the people celebrating on TV this morning when I got up at 6.45am (I am the world's worst sleeper).

I imagine the world will quickly go into a massive 'hangover' now, in which everyone says lots of things along the lines of "right, now let's see if he actually does anything".

Let them.  I never met a happy sceptic.  I used to be one - and I wouldn’t choose to go back.

Recording starts in 2.5 weeks.  I'm now freaking out (a little) about how to get a whole album done in a week.  Although you can't beat a deadline for making you perform - there may be a lot of very simply recorded songs with just voice and guitar - that should speed up the process!  Worked for damien rice!

There are some fantastic songs coming out of me in the last few weeks so I'm pretty thrilled about how much of a leap forward this will be.

I'm now left with the burning question of whether to be adam smith - or to celebrate this new era and make the decision today to be something else - and surprise people (and myself) - maybe I'm ready for a change as well.  For some reason it seems to be a really hard decision to make - although I don't know why - I could easily produce an album under a different name (i.e. a band type name, I'm not doing a reg dwight on you) and then go back to being me in 12 months if I decide to.  Flex your approach, that's what I'm always reading - flex your approach but keep going.  So perhaps adam smith singer songwriter will be taking a year off.

Although if I do choose not to be me for this one, I guess I may need one or two collaborators to come in and play on the album with me.  All volunteers welcome (although you may not get picked of course!  This is my soccer team!  And having people in will slow things down a touch, plus they won't know what they're playing yet - neither do I)…

Ah.. the challenge of being a would be rock icon
