Yes I know I know it's taking me forever..... I'm at the stage where I know what all the songs will be, I have most of the recording done, it's just tweaking some bits, re-doing some vocals and some other bits and generally adding sparkly magic here and there.
Big shout out to those of you who already bought one in December! Wasn't I ambitious! I will get this done if it kills me - once I've got all my recording bits done I have to take it to a producer to be mixed and tweaked and then it's ready for the outside world. This may now happen in February! I'm sorry! (No I'm not - do you want a brilliant album or a mediocre one?)
Still working hard while everyone else watches telly.
Happy Sunday night. PS The room in which it was recorded is available to rent if you're interested! Cheap as chips!

See you soon. Back to the recording. And my chicken which is cooking away.

Adam has a new drummer! bass player / keys still needed
Hi everyone,
I'm pleased to say that I've found myself a drummer who will be playing live with me for the foreseeable future. Luke has played in a few different bands and is really good - so that's very exciting! He's already helping me sort out the percussion parts on the new album, which is really cool as he'll be playing them live this year.
Luke and I are now looking for a bass player to give us a basic trio. Then in addition I want to add on a keyboard player to give the full Adam Smith effect it's maximum power!
So those of you who have seen me play live on my own, this will take things to a whole new level - mainly louder!!!
If you know anyone who might fit the bill for either of these roles keyboard or bass (Luke and I are both based in West London so rehearsals are likely to be here), please ask them to get in touch with me.
PS I'm also still looking for a room in which to live so if anyone can help me with that all suggestions are gratefully received!
Happy January 15.

Hackney gig, needing a place to live, adam's ablum
No it's not a typo. So I played a gig in hackney last night. Yeah that's right, I'm proper cool and hard. It was proper fun and there were quite a lot of people there. This is a shout out to the noisy champagne drinkers for when you get round to accessing my website. Left the gig (after 4 free drinks at the free bar) in typical adam style, just about 5 minutes too late to get the last train home, so ended up shambling in a slightly worse for wear fashion to get on a bus (ANY BUS!!) out of clapton and back to the leafy safety of WEST SIDE.
Ended up not very much closer (at finsbury park), but just grateful to be able to get a tube, and home about half past twelve. Exhausted and having done some sort of finger damage to my right hand with my enthusiastic strumming technique. The other band (the park bench) were fun and looked after me which was cool. Played some new album stuff and some old stuff which was great. Pluinging my newly injured right hand into hot water to do last night's washing up this morning was NOT cool. In fact it was HOT.
Album wise I am now talking to a very nice producer about working his magic on my starting-to-sound-surprisingly-cool stuff so hopefully I should be able to hit my target of end of January for getting everything finished. Ian if you're reading this can you give me some dates please? :)
Also I need a room as our lease runs out in the next few weeks and I am getting too old to be living in a room the size of a shoebox so if anyone knows anyone who has something going in west london, please let me know quick! Or if you want to deputise yourselves into the search you're very welcome to go on the various sites and help me find somewhere!
Feel like i've burned the candle at both ends a bit this week. Ready for bed, but instead I think I'll have some lunch and go and spend my next voucher. Happy January everyone

And so we all go back to work
It's an interesting phenomenon the first day back after christmas and new year. I find myself acutely aware of the 'treadmill' of life that a lot of us seem to be on. There is a theory that a lot of people seem to break their new year's resolutions because they have no particular reason to make them, other than the tradition - no 'pain' has driven them to finally shed those last twenty pounds, or whatever.
But I'm sure there are a lot of people out there thinking a little more than 'oh no, back to work after my nice long holiday'. I'm sure there are some thinking 'is this what life is?' - a sequence of days spent in a building making money for someone else, punctuated by the odd trip to the seaside twice a year. My that's an encouraging sentiment. Sorry!
There's nothing worse than being stuck in a pattern. Break your patterns. I'm going to try and break mine this year. Dramatically.
I have a great quote on my wall (yes, I have quotes on my wall!).
"Somebody should tell us, right at the start of our lives, that we are dying.... whatever you want to do, do it now! There are only so many tomorrows." - Michael Landon
I've not been the world's best at doing what he says but I'm working on it (by that I mean working on myself).
It's a weird experience writing these. I don't know who I'm writing them to. Perhaps to myself.
I've just had an idea. They say that once you come up with goals for yourself, the best way to commit to them is to announce them publicly so that the people around you (that's you if you're reading this) have read them and can make you keep to them.
So my new year's resolution for 2009 is to come up with some proper goals. Once I do, I'll post them on here and you can all help me by applying friendly pressure!
Happy new year all. Another great quote I read somewhere was about not using a rear-view mirror to try and drive yourself into the future (drags own head to face forward).
Chin up for tomorrow morning (monday) - most of you reading this will have already got through it. If you found it that bad maybe you should do something about it!
Hugs
